Sky Has No Limits...! So Do I....!

The goal of mankind is knowledge. This knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside; it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows', should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Swami Vivekananda" - Great Philosopher of the Orient

Hey folks...!
We are quite amazed when people say not to look at Sun during Eclipse..! The reason is here..!

When I was a kid, I had a magnifying glass & i stole some match sticks from kitchen and ran towards terrace to light it up without external flame..! wondering how? It's quite interesting that when we focus the Sun's radiation through the magnifying glass on to the tip of the match stick, the heat energy from the Sun is made to converge at the tip of the match stick, thus causing it to burn. (Try This out..!)
In the same way, when we look at the Sun during eclipse, with naked eye, which incorporates "lens" inside, the heat energy is again converged by the lens and makes the "retinal-cells" to get burned out. So the cells on Retina gets damaged leading to blindness. You must be wondering why don't it happen during normal days..!
Yes. It happens anytime when we look at the sun. But during normal days none have time to do it as it is everyday phenomena. But solar eclipse, is a very rare phenomena, which occurs ones in a Blue Moon...!
Hope we all enjoy the next eclipse by using some safety glasses...!

good info sriram.... But i am not clear with, what happens to our retinal cells on normal days...
Try to post about lunar eclipse and various other scientific facts...

I meant that during normal days you will not waste your time by looking at the sun. But as solar eclipse is a very rare event and you are tempted to look at sun to know whats happening...!
also don't try looking at normal days at sun.. It causes the same effect on retinal cells as on solar eclipse. So don't try to look at sun even on normal days too...!

I don think solar eclipse affects only our eyes... y do people say tat we are not suppose to eat during eclipse? y are pregnant ladies in particular asked not to see the sun? wat will happen to the child in the womb?

oh...can you post an article getting scientific proofs .....

i m not aware of the scientific proofs.... tats the purpose why the doubt was raised to u.. i think u can explain the detailed note on solar eclipse

This tells me clearly that I have to look at an eclipse for any reason, I knew that was causing the cells of the retina become damaged leading to blindness. But not that all that ...

It is a pity that we can't look directly to the sun when a eclipse is happening.

Well i don't know i always watched eclipses without any protection and I'm fine until know i never feel bad or something.
