Do Birds can crash air planes? unbelievable..! But yes. Its true.
There are cases in history where airplanes crashed because of a bird(or flock of birds). People are mostly not aware of this fact that birds can crash a plane.
"Bird Strike": When a bird or flock of birds collides with an aircraft then it may be termed as "Bird Strike..!"
The history has records of bird strike dated from 1912. There were many instances where bird hit the air plane which leads to crash resulting in loss of human life..!
Also Bird-Strike may also be called as Bird-hit or BASH-Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard.
A Bird-Strike usually happens during take-off & landing.

The crash occurs mostly when birds hit the wind screen or when ingested into the engines. The resulting damage causes loss of human life & heavy financial loss for the air-line owners. When the birds get ingested into the engines, (which is usually a gas turbine) the blades of the turbine breaks away, (as the turbine blades rotate at very high speed to produce sufficient power), leading to fire and engine failure. Some times the bird may hit the wings or the tail flaps, or even the nose part of the air craft.

A Bird Strike is mostly witnessed when birds migrate during seasons change. The open places near airports attract the birds which migrate in flocks. Some countries even adopted "gassing" in order to get rid of bird strike. But certain organizations where against "gassing" as it may affect the environment & create imbalance in the ecosystem.
Not to forget, the size of the bird which strikes the plane also matters. Nothing may happen if a small sparrow hits a plane. But imagine a flock of strokes or vulture/eagle striking a plane may cause major devastation.










So what is done to get rid of these bird-strikes?
We all are aware of many types of management like human resource, finance, disaster etc.. But nothing to wonder, some airports do have "BIRD MANAGEMENT & CONTROL". A group of people who follow certain techniques and steps to avoid bird strikes. This could be an ever-challenging job for the humans who sit at the airport to avoid bird-strikes. They should take care of the birds and humans who fly with the plane..!!! May be the birds are jealous on seeing humans flying at a greater height than what birds can....!
